America in upheaval

the George Floyd insurrection in response to racial injustice :
anguish and outrage  erupt in civil unrest
on the streets of America

Protestors call for justice and police reform

multiple grievances boil over as protests spread across America

Protestors of law enforcement mistreatment of black Americans
are joined by vandals, rioters and looters as the economic crisis precipitated by the Covid-19 pandemic brings the disenfranchised/oppressed onto the streets in righteous rage.
Black people are dieing disproportionately of Covid-19 because of their marginalized  socioeconomic status.
Black people are  disproportionately targeted by police.
Who are the police paid to "protect and serve"?
National guard called in to help police "keep a lid on it".
The National Guard is often called in when violence erupts, but while it may be effective at stopping that superficial violence (by threatening or using violence), it reliably provides an excuse for the government to ignore the original reasons for that “unrest.”
The government policies that have created the wealth disparity and the injustices that permeate American society need to be addressed.
The current Trump administration has repeatedly  expressed white supremacist sympathies .
This systemic  racism has fueled outrage among underpriveleged minority groups.
Protestors direct their frustration against law enforcement agencies wch are agents/proxies of the qovernment responsible for protecting white privelege ,maintaining social order, and enforcing the  laws of the state wch ensure the continuation of white dominance and  wch are responsible for the systemic causes of  poverty wch deny Blacks educational and employment opportunitues.

  2. At the root of the current Black Lives Matter protests in Canada and the United States is a chasm of mistrust between many in black communities and the police. Ottawa Police Chief Peter Sloly discusses calls for policing reform, and how trust might be rebuilt.

  3. Trump responds by refering to the protesters as terrorists.
Trump calls out the military to supress the protests and "dominate" the streets of America.

  4. Share this video of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), who sums it up this way:
“The way we end this [violence], and the way we move through this, is by establishing justice. That is the ultimate way of creating peace and prosperity.”
