What kind of country do you want to live in?

And what kind of country do you want to pass on to your children?!

  1. Canadian political leaders do have very different visions for Canada's future.
Some have a blinkered shortsighted view and are incapable of seeing beyond a four year term.
What kind of society and planet do you want future generations to inherit?
Do not betray your children's future!

    2. It's not about the economy, stupid! It's about the environment!

Economic growth is not an end in itself.

Saving the environment must take precedence over economic growth.

      The economy will adjust.

      It is our moral obligation!

    4. We have to reject the paradigm that places the economy and economic growth above everything else.
Over and over, the economy has determined the extent of our response, but how much value does it place on breathable air, drinkable water, edible food and stable weather and climate?
Surely the economy is the means to a better future, not an end in itself.
Surely it must be subordinate to a rich, diverse ecosphere that sustains all life.

    5. What parent does not want to give their children a better life than they themselves had?!
That won't be possible if we continue to ravage and pollute the planet.
We borrow this planet (our life support system)from our children...and when we have lived out our lives we are in every way obligated to pass it on to future generations in as pristine a condition as we found it in, so they too can enjoy the same quality of life that we did (that we inherited from those who came before us)

We have to  find ways to tailor the economy to our needs, not the other way around.
Our current economic system and thinking are not in tune with today’s reality.
It’s time  to change, before we’re forced into it.
The right of all citizens to live in a healthy environment is more important than facilitating short-term profits for foreign and multinational corporations

    6. Our present fossil fuel based ecomomy is not compatible with a healthy environment/climate.
We need to make a fundamental change to our economy (by moving from fossil fuels to renewables)
in order to address climate warming.
As other countries undergo this transition the demand for fossil fuels will continue to decline...and Canada's economy in so far as it remains heavily dependent on fossil fuel exportation
      will languish.

The best way to do that is to change the leadership.

  7. Stephen Harper on Paul Martin, during the Gomery Investigation, 2005.:

"At worst, he personally ordered it done and chose the people who executed the plan. At the very least, he fostered an attitude within the party, chose the managers of the people who committed these crimes and completely and utterly failed to exercise any oversight, supervision or leadership. In the end, it doesn't really matter where [his] actions or lack of them fall on that scale. He is the leader and a leader is responsible for the actions of the people he leads. If he had a right or honourable bone in his body, he’d admit that and resign immediately." -

    "plausible deniability" is implausible:

As tight a control as Harper has over this staff and MP's its just not believable that he knew nothing.

    1. given the level of control Harper has had over his MPs/senators and the concentration of power within the PMO
it is not believable that "he didn't know"!
Wright's "good to go "statement clearly meant that he'd received authorization directly from Harper to proceed to implement the strategy

  8. letter to the Prime Minister:

    Prime Minister,
Evidence presented at the Mike Duffy trial demonstrates there was an attempt by members of your staff to cover-up Mr. Duffy’s expenses and then provide a false version of events to Parliament and to Canadians.Your staff tried to end an independent audit by Deloitte, they manipulated a Senate report, and they crafted talking points about these events that were simply not true – including the details of Nigel Wright’s $90,000 cheque to Mike Duffy. The e-mails demonstrate that senior members of your current campaign team, including Marjory LeBreton, Irving Gerstein, and Ray Novak, were a part of these activities. This evidence is raising extremely serious questions about your judgement and your public statements to this point.1. You stated during the first leaders’ debate of this election campaign: “When bad actions arise, the role of the leader is to take responsibility and hold people accountable.” If you stand by that statement, and if you have any respect left for the office that you are privileged to currently hold – why have you not already fired the members of your team who were involved in these activities?2. You stood in the House of Commons and said Nigel Wright’s decision to write a $90,000 cheque was “not communicated to me or to members of my office.” Yet evidence at court shows that Nigel Wright e-mailed the PMO’s lawyer, Benjamin Perrin, and your current Chief of Staff, Ray Novak, indicating he was sending a personal cheque. As this evidence was made public in recent days, you now say that the “vast majority” of your staff was unaware of Nigel Wright’s cheque. Who specifically was aware? Were you aware that your first statement was false when you made it?3. With respect to the $90,000 cheque, in 2013, you said: “On Wednesday, May 15, I was told about it.” The next day your office released a statement saying Nigel Wright “has the confidence of the Prime Minister” and “he will not resign.” Months later you then said “he was dismissed.” If you dismissed Nigel Wright, why did your office release a statement saying that he had your confidence?4. Have you, or any members of your staff, had any contact with Nigel Wright on any government business since he left your office on May 19, 2013?Canadians deserve answers to these questions – answers that you have refused to provide.

    Sincerely,Justin Trudeau
Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada

  9. Exposed/busted:

Harper and his staff conspired to orchestrate the scheme to make the Duffy expense scandal go away.
The coverup was intended to deceive the public...and to minimize damage to the conservative image/brand.

You called it man! Harper got evicted!

The Canadian people have chosen a young idealistic leader into the future.
Hopefully he's not just a pretty face, and the power entrusted in him will be used to serve the people!

“A positive, optimistic, hopeful vision of public life isn't a naive dream - it can be a powerful force for change,”

“Canadians have spoken,” he declared. “You want a government with a vision, and an agenda for this country that is positive, and ambitious, and hopeful. Well my friends, I promise you tonight, that I will lead that government. I will make that vision a reality. I will be that prime minister. …My friends, we beat fear with hope, we beat cynicism with hard work. We beat negative, divisive politics with a positive vision that brings Canadians together.

  15. It is one thing to win an election, but winning a campaign is not the same as governing.
Justin Trudeau has still to come up against the reality of politics.
The actual business of governing, wherein he has yet to prove himself, still lies ahead.

  16. The conservatives and NDPers underestimated what a "pretty face" and name recognition can do.
If you analyzed the vote according to gender...
the only reason Trudeau won is because all the women voted for him. #sex appeal
